Sometimes all people want is to keep things from getting worse. A cap and crown seal can help with just that.
A customer of ours noticed the cracks in their crown and the beginnings of brick deterioration. They didn’t quite have the budget to demo and pour a new crown with an overhanging edge, so we settled on installing a cap and crown seal.
Now we have eliminated two points of water entry: through the flue opening, and through the cracks in the crown. This will extend the life of this chimney and fireplace.
We use Chimney Saver Crown Coat for the crown as it is an amazing product. It bridges existing cracks and gaps and is elastomeric so it flexes and bridges even newly forming cracks under the seal.
